On Wednesday, The New York Times published an anonymous op-ed, penned by a "senior official in the Trump administration," that heavily criticized President Trump's "amorality," and "half-baked, ill-informed and occasionally reckless decisions" that, according to the official, could not be taken seriously. The source went on to explain the operation of a so-called "two-track presidency" -- in which the President may make a decision on policy, but an entire team of officials would subsequently step in to mitigate the consequences of said policy and walk it back. With us, this morning, to dive into the details of this explosive and unprecedented publication is Fmr. CIA Director John Brennan, who assures the disillusioned voter that there are people within the Trump administration who are actively working to "counter" what President Trump is doing. The Trump official also reveals in the piece that there were, indeed, "whispers" of invoking the 25th Amendment upon the President, but the possibility of a constitutional crisis kept most advocates at bay. He, or she, ends with, "There is a quiet resistance within the administration of people choosing to put country first." Also, this morning, we have the President's latest job approval numbers, which, according to an ABC News/Washington Post survey, places his approval at just 36%. This could be detrimental to the GOP's midterm efforts, especially given President Trump's tumultuous past couple of days. In addition, we have Fmr. Secretary of State John Kerry joining the panel to discuss his new book, "Every Day is Extra," and the message that Democrats should adopt, going forward into the midterm season. It's Thursday, September 6, 2018. Welcome to Morning Joe.
