Description:

This morning, on a bombshell episode of Morning Joe, we'll bring you the latest revelations from The Washington Post's Bob Woodward's new book, entitled, "Fear: Trump in the White House."

Last month, Woodward released an audio tape from an 11-minute phone call with the President. Woodward is heard telling President Trump that he had attempted to secure an interview with him, but Trump denied ever hearing of the request, even with Woodward going through "six people."

The book, out next Tuesday, details President Trump's shortcomings and repeated badgering of senior White House officials while simultaneously delving into the smattering of insults that senior White House officials have, in turn, used to describe the President, himself.

According to Woodward, Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis is quoted as saying that Trump has "the understanding of a fifth or sixth grader," and Chief of Staff John Kelly has been quoted as calling the President, "an idiot."

Both officials have effectively deemed the revelations, "B.S."

Bob Woodward will join the Morning Joe panel, next Wednesday, to discuss the current state of the Trump White House as the fallout from his book continues.

Also making headlines, this morning: Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavanaugh enters his second day of confirmation hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee. The hearings, yesterday, marked the beginning of an arduous, tumultuous, and, at times, chaotic climb for Committee Democrats as they cohesively attempted to postpone Kavanaugh's confirmation.

Democrats decried Committee Republicans over their support for Kavanaugh as the Department of Justice recently ruled to withhold over 100,000 documents pertaining to Kavanaugh's tenure as a White House lawyer under President George W. Bush. At several points during yesterday's testimony, Committee Senators on both sides of the aisle jabbed back and forth with interruptions and contentious quips, taking up seven hours before Kavanaugh made his opening statement.

In addition, Mr. Kavanaugh's hearing decorum turned heads, garnering furious criticism as he ignored the handshake of Fred Guttenberg, the father of a victim slain in the Parkland, FL school shooting.

As Kavanaugh was standing to leave the chamber, Guttenberg offered an introduction and a handshake; Kavanaugh acknowledged Guttenberg, made eye-contact, but swiftly turned to walk the other direction.

The second day of Kavanaugh's confirmation hearings may bring close to 12 hours of testimony as his past comes further into light by the hand of Committee Democrats.

It's Wednesday, September 5, 2018. Welcome Morning Joe.
