Lock Who Up?: Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen Guilty of Criminal Wrongdoing; President's Inner Circle Fear Impeachment

Description:

In what has been dubbed President Trump's "Hell Hour," by conservative mainstay, "Drudge Report," two of the President's former colleagues have been found guilty of numerous charges ranging from tax evasion to bank fraud to campaign finance violations.

Paul Manafort, who served for a short time as President Trump's campaign manager, was found guilty, yesterday, on 8 of 18 charges brought against him -- including multiple counts of bank and tax fraud. The 10 remaining charges will be discussed by the Department of Justice in the coming weeks, as the jury could not reach a unanimous verdict, resulting in a judge-ordered mistrial.

Michael Cohen, the President's former personal attorney and "fixer," surrendered to the FBI, yesterday, and accepted a plea deal from prosecutors -- facing charges of tax evasion and falsifying bank statements.

Cohen also reaffirmed that President Trump advised him to allot hush money to Stormy Daniels and a former Playboy model before the 2016 election to cover-up alleged extramarital affairs, which the President vehemently denies.

With the plea deal, Cohen faces up to 5 years in prison.

Joining the panel, this morning, is Michael Cohen's personal attorney, Lanny Davis, who tells us that Cohen is all-to-willing to reveal more of what he and President Trump have discussed behind closed doors to Robert Mueller's Special Counsel.

Meanwhile, the President's legal team responded by saying that the charges brought against Cohen are a direct result of "a pattern of lies and dishonesty over a significant period of time," and have denied that Cohen's charges signal any wrong-doing on the part of the President.

With that said, sources close to the President are revealing that his inner circle are more worried than ever about the possibility of impeachment, due in part to Cohen's implicating remarks against Trump.

Sentencing for Michael Cohen is slated to happen in December; Paul Manafort is, according to his attorney, "evaluating his options."

It's Wednesday, August 22, 2018. Welcome to Morning Joe.
