As First Lady Melania Trump took to the podium outside of Washington, D.C., yesterday, to promote her "#BeBest" campaign -- a campaign formed to raise awareness of the dangers and consequences of cyberbullying -- the President took to Twitter to promote a campaign of his own. In a series of 10 tweets over the course of 24 hours, President Donald Trump unleashed yet another online attack, directed at "disgraced and discredited Bob Mueller and his whole group of Angry Democrat Thugs." The President went on to allege that "If you FIGHT BACK or say anything bad about the Rigged Witch Hunt, they scream Obstruction!" The latest Twitter entries from the President come on the heels of newly-released polling from Monmouth University that shows the majority of the country believes that President Trump may not have hired the "best people." According to the data, 58% of those polled say that President Trump did not "hire the best people" for their respective positions, and 57% believe that the country is headed in the wrong direction. This morning, we also have new reporting from Reuters' White House Correspondent Jeff Mason who tells us that the President believes he "could run [the Mueller probe] if [he] wants," but he personally chooses to "stay out," and that there may be no clear end in sight for the currently red-hot trade feud with China. From The New Yorker, as well, this morning, the President was reportedly advised to strip President Barack Obama from his access to intelligence briefings, but decided against it after being persuaded by H.R. McMaster. It's Tuesday, August 21, 2018. Welcome to Morning Joe.
