On the back-end of a whirlwind week of insults thrown by the President and accusations of racism thrown by Former White House Aide Omarosa Manigault-Newman at the President, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced, yesterday, that President Donald Trump will be revoking Former CIA Director John Brennan's security clearance. In the White House's official statement, read by Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the President accuses Fmr. Director Brennan of pushing "increasingly frenzied commentary" and "lying;" leading some to believe that the President is systematically hurting dissidents and critics and unapologetically abusing his power. Along the same line, the announcement is viewed, by some political commentators, as a predictable attempt from President Trump to distract from a number of hits against him, this week, including Ms. Manigault-Newman's allegations, the soon-ending trial of Former Trump Campaign Manager Paul Manafort, and the Mueller probe. Fmr. Director Brennan responded in an Op-Ed, published in The New York Times, this morning, by doubling-down on his view of President Trump's claims of "No Collusion," calling them "in a word, hogwash." Brennan goes on to assert that "Mr. Trump clearly has become more desperate to protect himself and those close to him." Also making headlines, this morning: the trial of Paul Manafort jumps into its first day of jury deliberations after the prosecution's and defense's closing arguments. We'll bring in Fmr.
