This whirlwind Tuesday news-day begins with fallout from the firing of FBI Agent Peter Strzok, a former investigator working on behalf of Robert Mueller's Russia probe who sent 'anti-Trump' text messages to FBI Attorney Lisa Page while both still active in the investigation. The President, tweeting yesterday in response to Strzok's termination: "Based on the fact that Strzok was in charge of the Witch Hunt, will it be dropped? It is a total Hoax." Peter Strzok's Attorney Aitan Goelman is fighting back against his client's firing, arguing that the decision was too heavily motivated by political pressure and that it legitimizes President Trump's vision of purging the bureau. The President of the United States then turned his Twitter-ing fingers to Former Political Aide "Wacky" Omarosa Manigault, revealing that his administration requires staffers to sign a non-disclosure agreement to "not demean or disparage publicly...Mr. Trump [or] Mr. Pence..." Ms. Manigault denies ever having seen this document. President Trump then retweeted Former Lawyer and 'Fixer' Michael Cohen, who defended the President against Manigault's accusations of usage of racial slurs. Michael Cohen and President Trump, flanked by current Attorney Rudy Giuliani, are, supposedly, not on the best of speaking terms -- Cohen, weeks ago, released his own secret recordings of phone calls with President Trump. Lastly, President Donald Trump's latest Gallup approval rating lands at 39% as another round of Midterm primary elections kicks-off, this morning. It's Tuesday, August 14, 2018. Welcome to Morning Joe.
