Coming off of a whirlwind week of walk-backs and winces, President Donald Trump, over the weekend, lashed out at the President of Iran on Twitter. President Trump, tweeting, in all caps: "NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE." The provocative message seemingly came out of nowhere, amidst tangential tweets blaming Former President Barack Obama for not alerting the Trump Campaign about threats from Russia, and calling Russian election interference "a big hoax." Joining us, this morning, to discuss the President's erratic weekend, is Adm. James Stavridis. Meanwhile, new reporting has revealed longtime Trump lawyer Michael Cohen's secret recordings of conversations he held with then-Candidate Trump, two months before the 2016 Presidential Election, about paying off a former Playboy model who had an affair with Trump. The President, also in a tweet, responded calling the recording "inconceivable" and "perhaps illegal." We have all that, this morning, and more -- including updates on the White House's continued bout of damage control from the Trump-Putin Helsinki Summit. It's a busy Monday, July 23, 2018. Welcome to Morning Joe. |
