Amid bipartisan outcry and almost universal condemnation of his rhetoric siding with the Russian State and against the findings of the U.S. Intelligence Community, President Donald Trump has walked back his comments. The President essentially absolved blame from Russia in the swaying of the 2016 Presidential Election in his joint press conference with President Vladimir Putin of Russia on Monday, by saying "I do not see any reason why it would be [Russia]." Yesterday, however, Trump announced that what he meant to say was: "I don't see any reason why it WOULDN'T be Russia." In the same meeting, President Trump both accepted the U.S. Intelligence Community's findings on the matter, while also conceding that it "could be other people also; there's a lot of people out there." Join us, this morning, as we break down the President's rapidly-growing proclivity toward false and retroactive statements by the numbers with Morning Joe Economic Analyst Steve Rattner. Also, later in the episode, the panel discuss how Congressional Democrats can unify and capitalize on President Trump's walk-backs, just in time for the 2018 Midterm Elections. It's Wednesday, July 18, 2018. Welcome to Morning Joe.
