The latest consequence of President Donald Trump's flippant and hair-triggered trade war is now hitting hard-working Americans: Legendary motorcycle company Harley-Davidson announced that it would be moving some production facilities overseas -- obviously deflating its American workforce. This was done in response to raised European Union-imposed tariffs on American-made motorcycles from 6% to 31%. And THOSE tariffs were heightened in retaliation to American-imposed tariffs on the EU. In addition, speaking last night at a rally in Greenville, South Carolina, the President repeatedly bashed German automakers BMW and Mercedes for, allegedly, costing America billions of dollars from imposed auto tariffs. BMW, currently, employs thousands of South Carolina residents at its Greer plant, and has played an imperative part in community upkeep. Also last night, speaking on the crisis at the southern border, Trump outwardly passed blame onto both Former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama for immigration policy that he, himself, created just months ago. It's Tuesday, June 26, 2018. Welcome to Morning Joe. |
