Forgive Me, Father, For I Have Skimmed: The New York Times Releases Exposé on Trump's Shady Tax Schemes and Massive Parental Gifts

Description:

Yesterday, the New York Times released a bombshell, 25+-page report on President Donald Trump's childhood, his family's suspicious tax schemes and the eventual attempted betrayal of his father.

According to the scathing report, Fred Trump, the president's father, sought out any possible path to funnel wealth toward his children from his real estate empire. Mr. Trump reportedly gifted his son, now-President Trump, up to $400,000 -- adjusted for current inflation -- at the age of three; and, by the time he was eight, now-President Trump had already achieved millionaire status.

This directly contradicts the President's long-standing, campaign-born mantra that he had only received a "small loan" of a million dollars from his father.

Over the years, President Trump had received over $400 million from his father's real estate company in the form of gifts, calculated tax fraud and even the rewriting of his father's will to bail himself out of financial shortcomings stemming from his multiple failing business ventures.

After the report was released, a spokesman for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance responded to the damning allegations in the Times' report by advising that the Department would be “vigorously pursuing all appropriate areas of investigation.”

However, due to the state's statute of limitations, many of the alleged wrongdoings committed by the Trumps will not see trial. That will not, reportedly, stop investigators from looking into President Trump's more recent tax dealings, seeing the Times' report as a "starting point."

Also, this morning, we'll bring you the latest updates on the investigation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

According to sources close to the FBI's investigation, a conclusion may be reached as early as this morning.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), meanwhile, is applying even more pressure to the still-undecided Senators, on both sides of the aisle, assuring members of the press that the Senate's vote on Kavanaugh will happen "this week."

Benjamin Wittes joins the panel, this morning, with a delve into his enlightening new piece, out in The Atlantic, today, entitled, "I Know Brett Kavanaugh, But I Wouldn't Confirm Him."

He'll chat about Judge Kavanaugh's lack of decorum and "upsetting" temperament displayed in his Senate Judiciary testimonies, and how, even if he is assumed "wholly innocent" of sexual misconduct, that should be cause for alarm.

It's Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018. Welcome to Morning Joe.
