Description: Conversations with Contemporary Artists: Isaac Julien Friday, November 18, 2005 6:30 p.m. British audio-visual installation artist Isaac Julien draws from a variety of artistic and theoretical sources to create films that explore the construction of cultural identities. His films include Frantz Fanon: Black Skin, White Mask (1995); the Cannes Film Festival prize-winner Young Soul Rebels (1991); and the groundbreaking documentary Looking for Langston (1989). In 2001, Julien was short-listed for the Turner Prize (for his film The Long Road to Mazatlan, 1999), and received the prestigious MIT Eugene McDermott Award in the Arts.
