Cullen Murphy talks about his book Cartoon County: My Father and His Friends in the Golden Age of Make-Believe. Cullen Murphy’s father, John Cullen Murphy, drew the wildly popular comic strips Prince Valiant and Big Ben Bolt. He was part of a group of artists whose comic strips and gag cartoons were read by hundreds of millions of people and included such popular titles as Superman, Hagar the Horrible, Hi and Lois, and The Wizard of Id.
