Publish Date: 2018-04-10 09:57:37
Description:

In 1971, reporter Ron Porambo wrote a seminal book about police brutality in Newark's 1967 race riots. But instead of rising to the ranks of Norman Mailer, Porambo's psyche cracked. In 1983, he was shot dead after years of criminal activity. Writer and filmmaker Greg Donahue traces Porambo's descent for The Atavist in his recent article, “Porambo.”
