Category: Society & Culture

Publish Date: 2018-03-08 10:36:22
Description:

Ian Buruma, New York Review of Books editor and author, came of age in Tokyo's avant-garde underground arts scene during the 1970's. His new memoir A Tokyo Romance captures this time, exploring the tensions between east and west, the cultural excitement of the era, and the dilemma of being a gaijin - or "foreigner" - in Japanese society.

Ian Buruma will be in conversation with Darryl Pinckney on March 8 at 7 pm at McNally Jackson (52 Prince Street).

This segment is guest hosted by DW Gibson.
