The Atlanta Falcons won't have a competition for their starting quarterback spot according to the newly signed passer Taylor Heinicke. Heinicke spoke to the media, indicating that the team was clear that they saw him as a backup and mentor for presumptive starter Desmond Ridder rather than someone to push him. Host Aaron Freeman breaks down why that's a good thing, and why Ridder getting as many reps as possible this spring and summer will benefit him and the team in the long run.
Then, he discusses the departure of free-agent cornerback Isaiah Oliver and whether Dee Alford is poised to step into his place. But despite the loss to the cornerback room, Aaron explains why the scales are tipping towards the Falcons taking a pass-rusher at the top of the 2023 NFL Draft due to their decision to keep Casey Hayward on the roster.
Finally, Tyler Rowland (@LockedOnTitans) joins to discuss ex-Tennessee Titans and New England Patriots tight end Jonnu Smith and why Falcons head coach and former Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith was able to get the most out of him a few years ago, and why he's poised to bounce back after two lackluster years in New England.
