Description:

Growing old disgracefully could be summed as living life in way that causes others to raise an eyebrow. Midlife and older cyclists often elicit such a response. But striving for athletic prowess beyond at certain age raises challenges - physical and mental - that are sometimes ignored by the older rider.  Is it wise to continue tuning the engine into old age? Phil Cavell is the author of The Midlife Cyclist and the co-founder of Cyclefit, a UK-based company dedicated to cycling analysis and biomechanics.  In this LLAMA podcast interview, the veteran club cyclist discuses both the art and the science of riding, for older people.  He shares a barefoot cyclist's enthusiasm for the sport and explains why attitude, diet, sleep, alcohol consumption - or lack of it - all matter, in the quest to be a successful midlife rider.

Recorded: October 13, 2021 | Transcribed using Sonix at the LLAMA podcast website.
