Description: Rev. Claudell County joins Dr. Tom to interview a returning guest, Nebraska poet Fredrick Zydek. A graduate of Seattle University and holder of an MFA in creative writing from the University of Washington, Fred Zydek taught creative writing at the University of Nebraska and later moved to the campus of the College of Saint Mary, where he taught theology until he retired. Zydek has written eight volumes of poetry, three novels, and a memoir and biography of the 19th-century theologian Charles T. Russell. Fred writes of his working style: "My poems almost always take shape during my morning meditation. Most meditations end in the poetic process. I have no idea why." He is gay, legally blind, confined to a wheelchair, on oxygen, and the adoptive parent of several special needs children who still reside with Fred and his partner. The State of Nebraska has honored their household as a Nebraska Family of the Year. Don't miss this show.
