Ventura County Family Says Teacher Used Anti-Muslim Curriculum
A Ventura County family is appealing to the California Department of Education to take action after they say a teacher used anti-Islamic material in his curriculum and the local district did nothing.

The “Me Too” movement has shone a light on the sexual harassment of women in the arts, politics, and journalism. Immigrant working-class women spoke up about sexual harassment before “Me Too” broke. In 2015 Sasha Khokha, host of The California Report Magazine, produced a project called Rape on the Night Shift about janitors who experienced sexual harassment and assault while cleaning office buildings, often from their supervisors.

The new year started on a disappointing note for one group: abalone divers, who normally harvest the delectable mollusks in springtime north of San Francisco Bay. The iconic red abalone is in such serious trouble that state Fish and Wildlife officials voted to close the North Coast sport fishery for the first time ever.
