The tension taking place in Sacramento was set in motion on March 18 when two police officers responding to reports of car break-ins shot at 22-year-old Stephon Clark, an unarmed black man, 20 times. The tension that followed displayed itself in the form of Black Lives Matter protesters shutting down the city’s roadways, grief from Clark’s family and civil rights leaders and now the courtroom.
