The ACLU went to court to ask the federal government to make a decision about Sea’s application for citizenship. Reporter: Benjamin Gottlieb Justice Department Borrowing Lawyers from Military to Help Prosecute Migrants Since last spring, when Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced a “zero tolerance” plan to prosecute everyone who crosses the border illegally, the federal courts in San Diego — and elsewhere on the border — have gotten clogged with these cases. One solution? A system of speedy mass hearings, known as Operation Streamline. Another fix? The Justice Department is borrowing lawyers from the military to help prosecute migrants. But that’s causing some questions.
