As the ranking member of the committee vetting U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, Feinstein has been vocal about the need to hear out Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who's accusing Kavanaugh of sexual assault. Brown Vetoes Bill to Change Role of California Sheriffs About a year ago, KQED first exposed a scandal in San Joaquin County. The medical examiner there was accusing the sheriff of meddling in investigations to protect law enforcement. The sheriff there is also the coroner. The reporting sparked a measure that would have changed how deaths involving officers are investigated. Governor Jerry Brown just vetoed that bill.
