Election 2018: San Jose’s Competing Housing Measures

Category: News & Politics
Duration: 00:52:13
Publish Date: 2018-05-30 11:00:00
Description:

San Jose is getting ready for an election face-off on one of the Bay Area’s biggest challenges: housing. Measure B proposes rezoning the Evergreen Hills area above the city for residential development and would enable building on other non-residentially zoned sites as well. Measure C would restrict development outside the city limits to ensure that all development is environmentally viable and would render Measure B moot. We’ll take a look at the opposing measures and what they could mean for San Jose.

Guests:
Andy Benkert,
campaign manager, Yes on Measure B; veteran, U.S. Army
Alice Kaufman, spokesperson, No on B, Yes on C campaign; legislative advocacy director, Committee for Green Foothills
Sam Liccardo, mayor, San Jose
Jeff Schroeder, yes on B campaign; senior vice president, Ponderosa Homes
