Michael McFaul On US-Russia Relations In An Era of ‘Hot Peace’

Category: News & Politics
Duration: 00:52:12
Publish Date: 2018-05-22 12:00:00
Description:

When Michael McFaul became U.S. ambassador to Russia in 2012, he’d just crafted the Obama administration’s “reset” policy, designed to improve U.S. relations with Russia after a strained period under George W. Bush. In his new book, “From Cold War to Hot Peace,” McFaul says that shortly after he arrived in Moscow, he was cast as “a revolutionary, a usurper, and Vladimir Putin’s personal foe.” McFaul joins Forum to talk about what he sees as a “new, tragic era of confrontation” between the United States and Russia, and the Trump presidency’s impact on relations between those nations.
