Israeli soldiers fired on demonstrators near Israel’s border with Gaza Monday, killing 60 and injuring as many as 2,700. The violence came as Palestinian demonstrators attempted to cross a border fence, and on the same day that a ceremony in Jerusalem acknowledged the U.S. moved its embassy there. The U.N. Commissioner for Human Rights condemned the attack on demonstrators. Nikki Haley, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said Israel acted with restraint. Forum discusses the humanitarian and political implications of the border violence.
