On Tuesday, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors is set to discuss whether or not to join the Trump administration’s lawsuit against California’s sanctuary state law. If it signs on, San Diego would join Orange County and a growing number of local governments resisting the law. Sanctuary state critics cite public safety and the need to ease cooperation between state and federal law enforcement. Supporters of sanctuary policies argue that immigrants need protection from harsh federal policies.
