Description:

San Francisco Bay’s shoreline is sinking, according to a new study co-authored by a UC Berkeley scientist. The study, which utilized satellite images, showed that some areas built on landfill are sinking nearly half an inch a year. That sinking, compounded by rising sea levels, will likely exacerbate flooding and could cost the region billions of dollars in the coming decades.
