Description: The Sri Lankan government has called a state of emergency in the wake of the Easter Sunday suicide bombings which killed nearly 300 people and injured more than 500. The government is blaming a small, local militant group, National Thowheeth Jama’ath, for the attacks. Officials say the group had the help of an  international network. But there has been no claim of responsibility. Sri Lankan authorities were warned at least 10 days before the bombings, but apparently did not act on the tip.
