Description: Proposition 12 lays out specific minimum dimensions for the living space allotted to farm animals raised or sold in California. Voters passed a similar law in 2008, but that proposition did not include specific measurements. Animal rights groups are split in their support for Proposition 12, with groups such as PETA arguing that the measure actually perpetuates inhumane practices on factory farms. Supporters of the measure, like the Humane Society of the United States, say current law does not go far enough in protecting animals. We'll discuss the nuances of Proposition 12.
