Earlier this month, San Francisco District Attorney George Gascón announced he would not seek a third term. Gascón, who was formerly Chief of Police in San Francisco, has gained national attention for his crime prevention programs and support of Prop 47, which recategorized some felonies as misdemeanors. He's also drawn criticism from progressives and victims' rights groups for not charging the officers involved in the fatal shootings of Mario Woods and Luis Góngora. Gascón joins Forum to discuss his career in San Francisco, and we'll hear about his plans to use a recently awarded $2 million grant to reduce the city's inmate population. |
