I had a great conversation with artist Lisa Golightly – yes, that’s her real name – in Portland. Lisa paints figurative and abstract paintings. Her figurative paintings are like faded memories of an idyllic summer and her abstract paintings have a powerful organic simplicity that is hard to get right. She does.
Her work is exhibited worldwide in solo and group shows, and she also has a big presence on etsy.
We talk about white floors, buckets of water, small cars, and of course art, lots of art and painting . . .
Here are the main points of what we talk about:
- Origins of figurative work,
- House paint,
- Color studies,
- Color palette,
- Abstract painting,
- Making prints,
- Doing what scares you,
- Cellphone photography,
- Underlying themes,
- Deadlines and play,
- Not waiting to be discovered,
- Etsy,
- Most moving painting to make,
- Big art dreams,
- Current artistic challenges,
