I had a great conversation with British artist Mitch Griffiths. Mitch paints beautiful figurative paintings that are charged with arresting contemporary themes. His solo shows are highly anticipated and in 2016 he had a landmark show in the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg in Russia. In this episode he shares his many years of experience as a professional artist and includes some great advice for young artists.

Mitch occasionally uses terre verte, neutral grey, phthalo green lake, vandyke brown.
He doesn’t use black. “My dark tones are a mixture of the ‘mud’ on my palette created by the constant mixing and muddying of the colours above. This helps the painting come together as a whole.”
