There’s been a lot of Disney World news lately. From the closure of classic locations like DinoLand U.S.A. and Tom Sawyer Island to the continued renovations of iconic hotels like The BoardWalk and Grand Floridian, those visiting Walt Disney World Resort can expect to see, hear, and experience a whole lot of changes during their trips.

Some of the most significant updates are happening inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Aside from the ongoing demolition and retheming of DinoLand, the park is also about to welcome a new Zootopia-themed theater show.

Zootopia: Better Zoogether was announced during Disney’s D23 event in 2023, an announcement that came as a complete shock to both hardcore fans and newcomers alike. With the second Zootopia film releasing this fall, the timing makes sense, but removing Animal Kingdom’s original 4D attraction starring Flick, Hopper, and the rest of the crew from Pixar’s A Bug’s Life (1998) was a very “bug” deal.

Ahead of the new show’s debut on November 7, Walt Disney World has shared a first look inside Zootopia: Better Zoogether.

New b-roll footage of the attraction is shared in the video, ranging from up-close looks at the new queue to actual scenes from the show. Zootopia: Better Zoogether will feature an entirely new story as well as new effects and animatronics.

While it’s still unclear what kind of “immersive effects,” if any, will be included, Zootopia: Better Zoogether certainly appears to be a much more family-friendly and less invasive experience than its predecessor.

As far as Zootopia 2 goes, both Jason Bateman and Ginnifer Goodwin are back as Nick and Judy, respectively, though our characters aren’t alone. Their designated “therapy animal,” Dr. Fuzzby, is brought to life by Quinta Brunson, the writer, creator, and star of ABC’s Abbott Elementary. The film releases in theaters on November 26.

More famous faces, or we should say voices, will be heard in Zootopia 2, such as Idris Elba, Bonnie Hunt, Jenny Slate, Tommy Chong, and Alan Tudyk, just to name a few.

Disney closed It’s Tough to Be a Bug earlier this year, a decision that remains quite controversial within the Disney theme park community. Some fans grew to adore the Bugs’ Life-themed theater show and all of its quirks. Others found the 4D show and its intense effects a little corny.

The show was in a peculiar spot, as it was intended to be both fun for the whole family and quite intense and scary at the same time. Guests would be poked, prodded, and attacked by various bugs, including large black widow spiders.

It was loud, dark, but at the end of the day, It’s Tough to Be a Bug was one of the most unique attractions at Walt Disney World.

Are you excited to see this new show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom?
