Vaisnava Values - Hari-kirtana dasa

Description: Unlike yoga systems that encourage absolute renunciation of the world, Bhakti-yoga considers engagement with the world to be an essential component of our personal spiritual development. This is why, in the Bhagavad-gita, Krishna encourages Arjuna to engage with his enemies rather than leave the battlefield. It’s also why ISKCON’s founder-acarya, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, characterizes the core scripture of the Hare Krishna movement, the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, in a social context as “a cultural presentation for the re-spiritualization of the entire human society” that can provide “a clue as to how humanity can become one in peace, friendship and prosperity with a common cause.” In this talk, Hari-kirtana das will describe six principal ‘Vaisnava Values’ and demonstrate how we can translate those values into clearly defined strategies for spiritually uplifting social engagement.
