Description: On the 29th July 1567, James VI was crowned king of Scotland when he was just 13 months old. As the great-great-grandson of Henry VII, King of England and Lord of Ireland, he succeeded Elizabeth I and became the first monarch to rule all three countries almost 36 years later. James was the only son of Mary, Queen of Scots, and as such immediately became heir to the Scottish throne when he was born.
