Historic Performance Podcast #2 - Joshua Neff

Description:

In the second episode of the Historic Performance Podcast, I interview Joshua Neff, Head Fitness Coach for the Chicago RedStars.  I was very excited when Joshua decided to accept my invitation to be a guest on the show.  The truth is that when people think about soccer, they think about men's soccer.  Very seldom,  do you get quality S&C information geared specifically toward women's soccer.

If you are a technical coach that works with females at the youth, high school, or college level, then this is a must listen.  Joshua talks about a variety of important topics, such as ACL prevention exercises for female players and how to establish rapport and trust with female players.

Here is a brief outline of what we covered in the show -

  • Joshua Neff's Coaching/Sports Science Background
  • Joshua's work with youth soccer clubs in the Chicago area
  • What he has learned from women's professional soccer that he has been able to integrate at the youth level.
  • The difference in attitude between men and women when it comes to sports science based on his experience working in the MLS and NWSL
  • Pre-season assessment and testing for the Redstars
  • ACL Injury Prevention strategies for female soccer players
  • Fit for 90 Player Monitoring System
  • Recommendations for younger coaches looking to get into soccer S&C or sports science
