In the 26th episode of the Historic Performance Podcast, I interview Rich Hesketh. Rich was the Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Calgary Flames from 1995 - 2014. Currently, he is the Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Men and Women's Basketball teams at the University of Calgary. I was introduced to Rich by Nathan Bullock, who was previously on the podcast. Nathan is a great guy, who is well regarded in S&C, so I knew that it would be a good idea to follow-up on his recommendation. In this episode, Rich discusses the importance of play for a young hockey players development, program design fundamentals for a gliding sport, and energy system development for hockey.
