In the 32nd episode of the Historic Performance Podcast, I interview Lachlan Wilmot. Lachlan is the Senior Strength & Power Coach at the GWS Giants in the AFL. He is part of a very robust GWS Giants Athletic Performance Unit (APU), which is led by David Joyce. David is a fantastic resource, who has written several chapters in two books. The books are High Performance Training for Sports and Sports Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation. In this episode, Lachlan talks about using a difficulty index algorithm to adjust training load based on the difficulty of the match schedule, pre-season testing, and how GWS Giants utilizes the NordBord to reduce hamstring strains, which is the most prevalent soft tissue injury in the AFL.
