In the 71st episode of the Historic Performance Podcast, I interview Tom Allen. Tom is the Lead 1st Team Sports Scientist at Aston Villa Football Club. Tom Allen joined Aston Villa in September 2011. His role involves monitoring and practically applying data into on-field conditioning during rehab and training sessions for the first team squad. He also promotes recovery and nutrition protocols throughout the club. He holds a BSc and MSc in Sports and Exercise Science having focused on the relationship between training load management and injuries in professional football players. In this episode, Tom talks about why injury risk is important to different stakeholders, how GPS can measure stress, and how to create and apply your own stress score system.
