Heidi is a Sport Scientist at the Newcastle Knights Rugby League Club based in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. In addition to her role, Heidi is also a PhD candidate at La Trobe University in Victoria, Australia where she is looking at the interactions between competition and training demands, sleep activity, and immunoendocrine responses of contact sport athletes by doing applied research with the Newcastle Knights. In this episode, Heidi talks about the relationship of sleep & immunoendorcrine responses in competitive rugby athletes, how to individualize sleep prescriptions, talking to professional players about their sleeping habits, & the sport science gender gap.
