In the 78th episode of the Historic Performance Podcast, I interview Darren Ritchie. Darren is the Head of Coaching Development at Scottish Athletics.

Darren is a former Scottish long jumper. Throughout his competitive career, Darren was the six-time Scottish long jump champion, the Scottish triple jump champion in 2004, and three-time winner at the AAA Championships.

After retiring, he has continued to be involved with Scottish Athletics. His initial role was as the Scottish Athletics National Jumps & Combined Events Manager and most currently he has assumed the role of Head of Coaching Development.

In this episode, Darren talks about the creation of the Athletic Development & Physical Preparation Curriculum (ADPP), the influence of Kelvin Giles on the ADPP, the different stages within the ADPP, and future goals and aims at Scottish Athletics when it comes to youth athletic development.
