Description: Heat caused at least 172 deaths in Phoenix in 2017, a record number, representing a 10 percent increase from 2016 — more than double the number of heat deaths in 2015. Also, open office plans are designed to encourage more effective collaboration and communication. However, a Harvard Business School associate professor found that in two companies that moved to open offices, face-to-face interaction dropped by around 70 percent. And in North Carolina, one of the biggest pork-producing states in the U.S., the state's pork council reported floodwaters from Florence had breached the wall of a pig waste lagoon. But a member of the nonprofit environmental group Waterkeeper Alliance says the problem is much bigger than that. That and more, in hour two of Here & Now's Sept. 18, 2018 full broadcast.
