Specifically, Moses Fleetwood Walker, one of the first black players in the league, and backlash he faced, especially from Chicago White Stockings player, Cap Anson (the White Stockings eventually became the Chicago Cubs). While often we discuss Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier, it was the presence of players like Fleetwood that led to the ban than Robinson eventually lifted.
