With both daughters experiencing chronic illnesses, making the decisions to leave a career that she loved was a tough one. Kelly Grimes restructured her life and suddenly things began to improve.
Shortly after she started her business In Truth and Beauty which incorporated her love of being an artist and her passion for counseling to develop an unprecedented system for self-nurturing.
She counsels and mentors girls, young adult women, women recovering from domestic violence and homelessness and families impacted by chronic health challenges on importance of self-nurturing.
In this episode Kelly talks about giving and most importantly receiving. She also expounds upon the art of saying NO! Often we take on projects, activities or job duties that we simply don’t have time for or frankly any interest in.
Many of us find it difficult to just say No, I’m sorry, I’m unavailable or I can’t, I have other obligations at this time.
This in turn causes stress, frustration, anger and resentment.
Listen in as Kelly teaches the art of saying NO!
And how sometimes it can be more powerful than saying yes.
One funny thing about this episode…
During this interview the fire alarm in my studio kept going off repeatedly. Literally every 5 minutes. It was so loud we could barely hear ourselves speak. Luckily there was no real fire!
The funny thing is Kelly and I both experienced a lesson in this situation. The lesson for us both was don’t panic, all is well even in the mist of what seems like a crisis.
This applies to your life too. When you are going through a crisis don’t panic. Know that everything is working out for your highest good (even though at the time it may not seem that way). As I say often, All is well all of the time. That’s the only way All can be.
I have an amazing producer who was able to edit out the horrible blaring from the fire alarm. But if you happen to hear it in this episode just laugh because that exactly what Kelley and I were doing. Enjoy!
