Description: To learn more about becoming a Certified Strengths Coach at the Gallup Strengths Center: http://on.gallup.com/1i5OXhq. Gallup's Called to Coach is a live Webcast that targets current and prospective coaches to interact with Gallup experts and independent strengths coaches who have found success in strengths-based development. On a recent Called to Coach, we spoke with Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, Michael Dauphinee. Michael identifies as a Gen Xer and as such said he was surrounded by books that provided a map, "Seven steps to this, or four ways to make a path." But, what Michael often found is that his path lead to a place the authors of those books had never been. He was in unknown territory. Michael said he didn't need a map, but rather a compass -- something that would show him the way no matter where he was. This compass was the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment. Michael has structured his thoughts on how the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment can shape a person's life into four areas: Identity, Permission, Courage and Generosity. First, strengths give us insight into the core of who we are. Second, since strengths come from a place of authority -- Gallup's extensive science -- they give people permission to be who they are and the permission to be extraordinary. Third, once people know their strengths, they have the courage to be themselves. And finally, strengths lead us to see how we can impact the world -- and to develop a way to live generously and contribute to the world.
