Description: Adam is the creator of Talent2Strength, a framework to help people leverage the life-changing potential of CliftonStrengths. He has implemented Talent2Strength with over 100 organizations and thousands of individuals. And, now, he is training others in his methodology and making his tools available in order to broaden the impact of the StrengthsFinder movement. Adam has been in the organizational development field for over 20 years. He considers himself an applied sociologist and he has high Input, so he’s always enjoyed collecting tools and concepts that explain our social/psychological world. The CliftonStrengths assessment is the most useful tool he’s come across. Adam developed a model around CliftonStrengths called COIN; Connect, Observe, Interrupt, Nuance. It is similar to name it, claim it, aim it. Connect: You should first connect with their themes. Memorize your top 5, don’t just read about them. Observe: Once you’re connected with your themes, then you can observe them. Interrupt: Once you’re able to observe your themes while they are happening then you can do something you’ve never done before; you can interrupt. Nuance: Being self-aware if your theme is matching or not with the situation and learning to dial it up or down. In this webcast, Adam also discusses the strengths tools he’s created for visual learning and for group facilitation. Adam came to StrengthsFinder because of an event on June 13, 1996. He was driving along a highway near his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma while listening to the radio. Being interviewed was a man who spent years studying successful people and wanted to share what he learned. Adam did something he’s never done before or since: he pulled over to take notes on what this man was saying. The man was Dr. Donald O. Clifton and he was talking about his upcoming book Soar with Your Strengths. It wasn’t until 10 years later that he reconnected with Dr. Clifton’s work when he took StrengthsFinder. Like many people, Adam read the results, found them accurate but didn’t know what to do with it. So, he filed his results away where they sat for 2 years. Until, one day, he connected with a close friend from college who had just completed his StrengthsFinder. Adam gathered his StrengthsFinder results and they spent the next several hours connecting their life experiences back to their themes. The result of this life conversation was transformational and demonstrated what could truly happen when people applied their StrengthsFinder results. He didn’t want others to miss out on what almost missed. Learn more about becoming a Certified Strengths Coach at the Gallup Strengths Center: http://on.gallup.com/1i5OXhq.
