Free Range Hens, Drought in Northern Ireland, Rural Housing, PYO strawberries

Description: Free range egg producers have criticised the RSPCA for insisting they install new perching systems in older henhouses. They say the perches could harm rather than help the chickens. Northern Ireland is not used to experiencing a drought; one farmer is using irrigation equipment that has been standing idle for over a decade. Farming Today has been hearing all this week that many people just can't afford to live where their families may have been for generations. There is now specific housing law which can help. It's called Rural Exemption; Anna Hill has been looking into it. Strawberries and summer go together - and this year it's a bit of an old-fashioned summer - extremely warm - so how about older variety strawberries to go with it? Presented by Anna Hill Produced by Alun Beach.
