Fly-tipping, Rat Catcher, Thermal imaging of calves

Category: Science & Medicine
Duration: 00:11:34
Publish Date: 2018-04-23 00:02:00
Description: Neil Parish MP has called for a change to the law on fly-tipping to shift the cost of this crime from the land-owner to the perpetrator. Charlotte Smith speaks to Gordon Paice, a farmer who's recently had a sofa dumped on his land, and Christopher Price of the Country Land and Business Association about the changes he thinks are necessary to give landowners greater protection. Thermal imaging cameras are now being used in farming, and Sarah Swadling's been to a farm in Devon to find out how they're helping monitor animal health. You don't have to be a farmer to work on a farm, and all this week we'll be looking at those jobs starting today with Vanessa Hartley who works in pest control, clearing farms of rats, mice and other unwelcome creatures. Producer: Toby Field.
