Description: Beef farmers are in crisis according to the British farming unions and they're calling on the government to intervene. Farmer James Lee says he could be getting as much as £250 less per head. Charlotte Smith asks Jimmy Ireland from the National Farmers Union, Scotland if demand for beef is falling shouldn't they just react to this change in the market. It's Halloween and whether you're out trick-or-treating or watching classic John Carpenter films from behind the sofa it's likely your surroundings are lit by a ghoulishly-carved pumpkin. Pick-your-own pumpkins has become very popular and a farm in Stafford has seen demand triple in the last three years, as BBC Radio Stoke's Jennie Aitken has been finding out when she went to meet Chris Barton. Aoife Allen from the campaigners Hubbub tell Charlotte that people need to find ways of using that scooped pumpkin to minimise food waste. It's the penultimate day of Farming Today's root veg week and today it's the turn of beetroot to shine. Sarah Falkingham's been to a farm in Nottinghamshire which claims to be the biggest beetroot grower in the country. Presente: Charlotte Smith Producer: Toby Field
