03/09/19 Land ownership, Scottish forestry, invasive oysters

Description: One of the country's biggest farming enterprises, Strutt and Parker Farms, has just changed hands for a reported £200 million pounds. It's been sold to a new private company backed by European investors put together by Belport, a company specialising in the acquisition and management of farms and estate. In Scotland, rather than hill land being sold for grazing sheep there's a growing trend for upland areas to be bought for tree planting. That's largely due to attractive grants and the Scottish Government's ambitious woodland targets. Kent Wildlife Trust has started a control programme of invasive Pacific oysters at selected sites across north Kent. Presented by Anna Hill and produced by Beatrice Fenton.
