Colonel Piero D’Inzeo is the oldest of two brothers who became national heroes in the sport of show jumping spannning four decades that bridged World War II. His classical style of forward riding and technical horsemanship was admired around the world as he galloped into the record books on the Italian team. His Olympic performances featured six gold medals over eight Olympic Games highlighting a career that also included becoming European Champion in 1958. His first Olympic appearance resulted in 6th place on the eventing team in 1948. Over 40 wins in Nations Cups and more than 30 as a race jockey demonstrate the extraordinary life of a career cavalry officer. Translation is by Italian Olympian Mario Turner.
